In June 2012, UP Singapore organized an Urban Prototyping Weekend “hackathon” to make use of data and technology to improve our urban environments. Participants came from different industries and they collaborated, brainstormed, developed and prototyped innovative solutions that will make our cities smarter, more efficient and simply better.
What was really special was that UP Singapore had the rare opportunity to access and experiment with previously unavailable big data sets from both government and corporates including: SingTel, EZ Link, SMRT, Ministry of Health Holdings and the Land Transport Authority.
Do check out some of the winning projects such as ClimateRight and SurePark. These are great ideas that made full use of data for valuable outcomes and also addressed Mining, Analyzing, Visualization and USE in their process.
